Go through the points and tick what you see. Not sure about something? We're happy to come and take a look.

From outside

Do this from the ground or through a window. Never climb onto the roof yourself.

Slipped, cracked or missing tiles or slates Moss, algae or plants on the roof A sagging ridge or a roof surface that is no longer straight Loose flashing around the chimney and roof windows Flat roof: blisters, cracks or puddles that stay for days

In the loft

Look at the roof from the inside, ideally after a rain shower.

Damp patches or mould on timber or insulation Daylight shining through between the tiles A musty or damp smell Wet or compressed insulation

Gutters and drainage Gutters full of leaves or dirt Water running over the gutter when it rains Leaking joints or corners in the gutter Downpipes that are loose or blocked

After a storm or hail Loose or blown-off tiles Damaged or loose gutters Dents or cracks in flashing, domes or roof windows Photos of the damage taken for your insurance
